报告人简介:
Samuel Pironon currently serves as a Lecturer in Conservation Biology at Queen Mary University of London (UK). He is also an Honorary Research Associate at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (UK), and a member of the IUCN Sustainable Use and Livelihoods Specialist Group. His research focuses on understanding the distribution of population performance and the determinants of species range limits, particularly under the pressures of global change. Dr. Pironon now primarily investigates the global diversity, distribution, and conservation of plant species, with a special interest in those utilised by humans. As lead author, he has published works in high-impact journals such as Science, Nature Plants, and Nature Climate Change.
In this seminar ,Dr. Pironon will present findings from his recent global assessment of utilised plant diversity (Pironon ,Ondo ,et al. 2024 ,Science) ,as well as insights from an ongoing ,unpublished study that aims to predict the potential extent to which global plant diversity could be used by people.
